Traditional Timber Framing courses
What is Traditional Timber Framing?
Traditional Timber Framing refers the methods used to frame together large timbered structures, often with Pegged, Mortise and Tenon Joinery. Most commonly seen in Europe and throughout North America, Traditional Timber Framing is in fact present all over the world and varies significantly in style, methods and species of woods used. Sometimes referred to as 'Heavy Timber Framing' or 'Post and Beam', Traditional Timber Framing is a wonderful method of constructing timber framed buildings from large section timbers.
Freshly sawn ‘green’ timbers are often used for Traditional Timber Framing. From forest or plantation to saw mill, ready for joinery to be laid out and cut.
